Mermaid Games from Poor Unfortunate Souls to Escape from Flotsam and Jetsam

Thinking about hosting a girl pool party? A Little Mermaid Party is one of our favorite pool party themes and keeps popping up at our pool since we have lots of little girls in our circle of friends and family. Ordinary pool games with swim rings, beach balls and pool hoops become extra-ordinary with a little planning.

We always kick off our pool party with a parade - girls are holding colorful fish made out of paper plates embellished with flowing streamers. Dancing to "Under the Sea" (using outdoor iPod speakers) around the perimeter of the pool sets the tone for a festive time.

Trinket Dives for Ariel's treasures and an Escape from Flotsam and Jetsam kept kids happily playing in the pool.
